Meet Dr. Arianna…
Hi! My name is Dr. Arianna N. Wendlandt PT, DPT.
The key to living a full and healthy life is movement. Breathing is movement, digestion is movement, running is movement. Life would not happen without movement!
My obsession with the science of movement first began in high school. I was strongly drawn to classes such as physics, anatomy, and exercise science. This, combined with my participation in various forms of athletics (soccer, tennis, surfing, mountain biking), is what drove me down the path to a Bachelors in Science in Kinesiology followed by my Doctorate in Physical Therapy. From there, my appreciation for and knowledge of movement only continued to go deeper and grow more specific through my studies in Visceral and Neuromeningeal manipulation. Here, I became enamored with the tissue and cellular level of movement, the movement that in many cases, is the source of life! There is a whole world at work behind the beating of your heart or the expansion of your diaphragm, a whole world that can be neglected without looking deeper. That is why I am passionate about a holistic approach to healing.
Through my studies and own health challenges, I have learned that healing is so much more than just treating a list of symptoms. True healing is about finding the cause, using that deeper, holistic approach to investigate the harder questions of “why is this happening?” and “what is the source?”. This approach, where consideration of the whole person is necessary, will allow restoration of optimal physical, mental, and emotional functioning.
In my personal practice, I find that it is essential to meet each person where they are at, treating each individual as just that, they’re own individual! Each person has their own background and experiences that plays a role in their body’s expression of health. It is important to consider where someone has come from to help prepare them for where they are going. Without this, I believe, there cannot be true, deep healing because the body is so much more complex than we can imagine. (This is why I think it is important to have a somewhat lengthy and in-depth intake form…sorry in advance!)
With respect of the body and your history also comes the importance of team work. I work by partnering with my patients, and any other health care providers they are working with, to tackle any problems head-on. If it only took one to tango, then you likely wouldn’t be here, so you must know that none of us can venture down our paths to healing alone. By establishing a sound team around you, you will be able to make the most change, and that is what I want to be apart of!
Above all, my goal is to EMPOWER my patients. This comes in many forms but my favorite is through education. The more you know, the better you can make informed decisions for you and your body. I will admit right now, I may have many answers, but I know I won’t have all of them. What I don’t know, I will research or refer to someone who does know if the situation calls for it. Through education, I want to help my patients take ownership of their health while teaching preventative strategies to help mitigate any challenges ahead.
Whether you’re struggling with shoulder pain, chronic low back pain, constipation, or are recovering from a hernia repair, I know that I can help you. You deserve to live the fullest life imaginable without anything holding you back! Let’s work together to keep you living the life you want to live!
